Taxon description
Gatunek zasiedlający środkową część Europy, na północ docierający do Wysp Brytyjskich, południowej Szwecji i wschodnich krajów nadbałtyckich; notowany też z południowego Zadnieprza. W Polsce, choć nie znany jeszcze z 10 krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Zamieszkuje pobrzeża wód, torfowiska i rowy. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju, często w znacznej liczbie i przeżywają do sierpnia. Jako roślina żywicielska była zwykle podawana manna mielec — Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb., ale prawdopodobnie chrząszcze żerują i na innych roślinach nadwodnych, gdyż Krzemiński (1966) poławiał je na 10 gatunkach roślin.
