Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
Ranga taksonomiczna tego gatunku budzi wątpliwości u niektórych autorów — omawiany takson traktowano niekiedy jako podgatunek D. dresdensis Herbst, dlatego też dokładne rozsiedlenie D. punctulata Muls. et Rey nie jest wystarczająco poznane. Był wykazywany dotychczas głównie z górzystych stanowisk w Europie Środkowej i z południowych prowincji Fennoskandii, Karelskiej SRR oraz Zabajkala. W Polsce wykazywany tylko z pięciu krain, przeważnie z pojedynczych stanowisk. Bionomia i wymagania ekologiczne są słabo poznane. W Szwecji liczne larwy znaleziono późną jesienią w owocniku pniarka obrzeżonego — Fomitopsis pinicola (Sw. ex Fr.) P. Karst, rosnącego na złomie wysokości 2 m. Z tych larw w hodowli uzyskano imagines w marcu następnego roku. Na swobodzie chrząszcze poławiano w maju-lipcu.
