Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony od Francji, Hiszpanii, Włoch i Dalmacji przez całą Europę Środkową aż do Belgii i Holandii. W Polsce jest chrząszczem nadzwyczaj rzadkim, notowanym tylko z okolic Warszawy i ogólnikowo ze Śląska. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się w czerwcu i lipcu. Larwy żyją w twardych hubach pasożytujących na drzewach liściastych, zwłaszcza bukach, olchach i wierzbach. We Francji uzyskano w hodowli postacie dojrzałe z larw żerujących we włóknouszku promienistym — Inonotus radiatus (Sow. ex Fr.) P. Karst.
