Taxon description
Gatunek pospolity w lasach, w ogrodach a także i w środowiskach miejskich. Pojawia się w postaci motyla od końca VIII do połowy X. Jak wiele jesiennych gatunków motyli przypomina kształtem i ubarwieniem pożółkłe liście. Gąsienice żerują od końca IV do VI na różnych gatunkach drzew liściastych, jak dąb, brzoza, wierzba, topola, olcha i wiele innych. Poczwarki o zmiennym kolorze — od żółtoszarych do zielonych przebywają w oprzędach ze spojonych przędzą liści roślin żywicielskich. Gatunek zimuje w stadium jaj. Dorosłe gąsienice prowadzą nocny tryb życia. Jak u pokrewnych gatunków motyle składają jaja pod spodem gałęzi siedząc skrzydłami w dół.
