Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie południową część Europy oraz Azję Mniejszą, skąd dociera do Armenii, Palestyny i Syrii. W Polsce chrząszcz ten należy do rzadkości, notowany dotychczas tylko z Wrocławia i Krakowa. Bionomia tego gatunku poznana niedostatecznie. Postacie dojrzałe spotykano głównie na dębach — Quercus L., rzadziej na olszy czarnej — Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn. i czeremsze zwyczajnej — Padus avium Mill.
