Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1983:

Gatunek rozmieszczony w Afryce Północnej, południowej części Europy, Azji Mniejszej, na południu europejskiej części ZSRR i Iranie, notowany również z Francji, oraz południowych części RFN i Czechosłowacji, gdzie dociera do okolic Pragi. W Polsce notowany ogólnikowo ze Śląska Górnego i z okolic Ustronia na Śląsku Cieszyńskim na podstawie znalezisk sprzed przeszło stu lat, dlatego też występowanie omawianego gatunku w naszym kraju winno było potwierdzone nowymi materiałami. Chrząszcze żerują na powierzchni ekskrementów różnych zwierząt, zwłaszcza krów i koni.
