Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony od Wysp Brytyjskich, południowej części Fennoskandii i Karelskiej ASRR przez całą środkową część Europy aż do Pirenejów, północnych Włoch, Bośni i Rumunii. Wykazywany również z Kaukazu. W Polsce rzadko spotykany, znany z nielicznych stanowisk. Występuje w grzybach licznych gatunków, zwłaszcza w żagwi łukowatej — Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr. i w łuskwiaku — Pholiota sp.
