Gatunek północnopalearktyczny, w Europie szeroko rozpowszechniony od Szkocji i północnych krańców Fennoskandii aż do Francji, północnych Włoch, Bośni, Rumunii i Ukraińskiej SRR. W Polsce oprócz wyższych partii górskich występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju. Występuje w grzybach naziemnych wielu gatunków oraz w hubach, przeważnie w żagwi łuskowatej — Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr.
