Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1976:

Gatunek palearktyczny, rozpowszechniony w Podobszarze Śródziemnomorskim i pozostałej części Europy, przekracza na północy koło podbiegunowe, na wschód sięga do Syberii i Kaukazu. W Polsce występuje głównie na terenach nizinnych, rzadko spotykany w górach, gdzie dociera do regla górnego i strefy kosodrzewiny. Żyje w stałych zbiornikach wodnych zarośniętych roślinnością wodną i błotną, niekiedy spotykany w spokojnych miejscach wolno płynących wód.
