Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Spotykany pojedynczo, największy gatunek z rodzaju Boarmia lata od końca V do końca VII. Gąsienice, żerujące od VIII do V z przerwą na sen zimowy, żywią się liśćmi dębów, brzóz, jabłoni i różnych innych drzew liściastych. W okresie zimowania gąsienice są ubarwione szarobrązowo; są pomarszczone, skurczone i przypominają młode gałązki dębowe. Dorosłe ciemnieją, przybierając kształt grubszych gałązek. Poczwarki przebywają pod powierzchnią ziemi. Gąsienice na stronie brzusznej mają parę uwstecznionych, przylegających do siebie odnóży, przypominających kształtem sęczek.
