Gatunek obejmujący swym zasięgiem całe Karpaty, ale w południowej części areału znany z liczniejszych stanowisk. Na ogół jednak rzadko spotykany. W Polsce odkryty niedawno w Beskidach Zachodnich, choć na pewno szerzej w górach rozsiedlony. Znajdowany wśród wilgotnych mchów, w próchnie i w ściółce buczyn.
