Gatunek o niedostatecznie poznanym rozmieszczeniu, poza Polską znany jeszcze z nielicznych stanowisk w Karpatach słowackich i w Kotlinie Panońskiej. W Polsce chrząszcz mało znany, stosunkowo niedawno odkryty w Bieszczadach. Larwy żyją w zmurszałym i przegrzybiałym drewnie pni, pniaków i gałęzi drzew liściastych, spotykano je w bukach, lipach, olchach i leszczynach. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano w maju i czerwcu.
