Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w Europie Wschodniej, na zachód docierający do Austrii, Słowacji i Polski. Dane o występowaniu tego ryjkowca w naszym kraju były kwestionowane przez niektórych autorów. Ostatnio na podstawie materiałów muzealnych z ubiegłego stulecia O. (A.) orbicularis (Herbst) został wykazany ogólnikowo z Karkonoszy, Rabki i Tatr. Według dodatkowych informacji (M. Mazur*) okazy dowodowe znajdują się w zbiorach: Instytutu Systematyki i Ewolucji Zwierząt PAN w Krakowie (Rabka — coll. W. Dybowski, Tatry — coll. E. Wróblewski) oraz w Eberswaldzie (Karkonosze — coll. K Letzner). Dane sprzed przeszło 130 lat o występowaniu tego gatunku na Śląsku i w Beskidzie Zachodnim były zakwestionowane przez J. Gerhardta (1891e) i autor ten później (1910) nie zaliczył O. (A.) orbicularis (Herbst) do chrząszczy śląskich. O występowaniu tego ryjkowca na Roztoczu wątpi S. Smreczyński (1960). Wzmianki o występowaniu w Beskidzie Wschodnim (M. Nowicki 1858, 1864) nie były uwzględnione w spisie chrząszczy krajowych (M. Łomnicki 1913, Smreczyński 1966), natomiast M. Mazur (1992) oraz M. Mroczkowski i J. Stefańska (1992) zaliczają omawiany gatunek do fauny Polski.
