Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986b:
Rozsiedlenie tego gatunku jest poznane niedostatecznie, gdyż jego rozróżnienie od pokrewnego O. cylindricus (Panz.) jest bardzo trudne. Omawiany gatunek dotychczas był notowany z Anglii, południowej Szwecji, Francji, Korsyki, Sycylii, północnych i środkowych Włoch oraz na podstawie znalezisk jedynie w XIX wieku z Hesji, Badenii, Frankonii i Brandenburgii, ale według A. Horiona (1961) obecne zasiedlenie tych krain jest bardzo wątpliwe. W Polsce znany z jednego tylko stanowiska na podstawie 6 okazów znalezionych w 1916 i 1931 roku (Horion 1961). Znajdowany zazwyczaj w starych dębach i kasztanach, niekiedy w towarzystwie mrówek Lasius fuliginosus (Latr.) oraz w chodnikach korników: drzewożerka — Dryocoetes villosus (Fabr.) i rozwiertka większego — Xyleborus monographus (Fabr.).
