Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozmieszczony w Europie.
Holocykliczny i jednodomny. Żyje w wyroślach podobnych do wyrośli poprzedniego gatunku na topoli czarnej — Populus nigra L., topoli włoskiej — Populus italica Mnch., rzadziej na innych topolach — Populus berolinensis Dipp. Wyrośla opuszcza dopiero bardzo późną jesienią. W przypadkach gradacji szkodzi topolom.
