Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Gatunek rozsiedlony w południowo-wschodniej Europie oraz w południowo-wschodniej części Europy Środkowej, sięgający na wschód po zachodni Kazachstan. W Polsce jest chrząszczem mało znanym, stosunkowo niedawno odkrytym na kilku stanowiskach w południowej części kraju, stanowiąc element pontyjski w naszej faunie. Zasiedla ciepłe stanowiska, zwłaszcza na glebach piaszczystych; poławiano go na pobrzeżach lasu, w ogrodach i na polach uprawnych, u nas w Białej Górze znaleziony na murawie kserotermicznej porośniętej roślinnością stepową. Polifag, żerujący na roślinach zielnych oraz drzewach; wyrządza niekiedy szkody w uprawach roślin, między innymi buraków oraz w sadach i winnicach. Obgryza pączki drzew owocowych oraz żeruje na liściach, robiąc na ich brzegach wycięcia w postaci karbów.
