Gatunek holocykliczny i różnodomny. Migruje ze śliw — Prunus spinosa L., Prunus domestica L. i Prunus insititia Juslen na liście chmielu — Humulus lupulus L. Notowany jako szkodnik chmielu i wektor licznych chorób wirusowych.
