Taxon description
Szelegiewicz 1968:
Ameryka Północna, zawleczony do Europy i tu od dawna zadomowiony. W swej ojczyźnie migruje ze świerka na sosnę wejmutkę — Pinus strobus L. W Europie tylko jako rasa anholocykliczna na wejmutce. Żeruje na korze młodych gałązek i pnia. Może wyrządzać poważne szkody jedynie drzewom rosnącym w parkach na silnie zacienionych stanowiskach.
