Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Gatunek zamieszkujący Europę Zachodnią i Wschodnią, notowany poza tym z trzech prowincji południowych Szwecji oraz z Syberii i Mongolii. W Polsce pospolity, rozsiedlony na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Zasiedla lasy liściaste i mieszane, doliny rzek i potoków, torfowiska. Żeruje na liściach i pączkach liściowych różnych gatunków drzew i krzewów liściastych, zwłaszcza topól i wierzb; wykazywany jako szkodnik koszykarskiej wierzby wiciowej — Salix viminalis L. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano od maja do września.
