Taxon description
Europejski gatunek o ograniczonym zasięgu do terenów górzystych, głównie w środkowej części kontynentu, na zachód sięgający do Francji, a na południe do północnych Włoch. W Polsce jest chrząszczem rzadko spotykanym, łowionym na kilku stanowiskach wyżynnych i górskich. Spotykany w górach, głównie w strefie subalpejskiej i alpejskiej, pod kamieniami i wilgotnymi płatami mchów. Okazy pochodzące z terenów nizinnych odnoszą się prawdopodobnie do osobników zniesionych z gór wodami powodziowymi.
