Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1980:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony głównie w południowej i środkowej Europie, wykazywany nadto z Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii, dwu południowych stanowisk w Szwecji oraz z Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce znany z nielicznych, rozproszonych stanowisk w zachodniej i południowej części kraju, przy tym z uwagi na podobieństwo gatunków, część danych o rozmieszczeniu omawianego gatunku może się odnosić w rzeczywistości do Ocypus (O.) melanarius (Heer). Zasiedla głównie suche środowiska na otwartych przestrzeniach, zwłaszcza na polach, łąkach, w ogrodach i dołach po wybranym piasku lub glinie.
