Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1978:

Gatunek pospolity, szeroko rozpowszechniony w prawie całej Europie, na wschód sięgający do Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i Iranu. W Polsce znany z prawie całego kraju, nie notowany jednak jeszcze z Pojezierza Mazurskiego, Podlasia, Gór Świętokrzyskich i Niziny Sandomierskiej. Występuje zarówno na terenach nizinnych, jak i w górach sięgając do górnej granicy lasu. Padlinożerny, znajdowany niekiedy również pod ekskrementami.
