Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek w prawie całej Palearktyce, w Europie występujący od krajów śródziemnomorskich do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych obszarów Fennoskandii. W górach sięga po regiel górny. Zasiedla łąki, pola, trawniki, przydroża, nieużytki i rowy. Żyje na koniczynie łąkowej — Trifolium pratense L., koniczynie krwistoczerwonej — T. incarnatum L., koniczynie rozdętej — T. fragiferum L., koniczynie polnej — T. arvense L. i koniczynie białej — T. repens L. Postacie dojrzałe odżywiają się liśćmi. Samice składają jaja w ogonki liściowe i łodygi. Po 8 dniach następuje wyląg larw, które drążą długie chodniki. Larwy z ogonków liściowych przewędrowują do łodyg. Po około 4 tygodniach żerowania larwy przepoczwarczają się w dolnej części łodygi. Przy masowym pojawie występują niekiedy znaczne szkody w uprawach koniczyn.
