Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozmieszczony w północnej i środkowej Europie, ale dość rzadko spotykany. W Polsce notowany z zachodniej i południowej części kraju. Występuje w ciągu całego roku, głównie jako synantrop w zabudowaniach i w ich sąsiedztwie (w podziemnych gniazdach gryzoni), rzadziej w lasach — w dziuplach, zmurszałym drewnie dębów i buków oraz na hubach.
