Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w środkowej części Europy, na północ docierający do południowych prowincji Szwecji i Finlandii, a na południe do Francji, środkowych Włoch, Jugosławii i Rumunii — wszędzie rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany. W Polsce znany tylko z trzech krain. Występuje w starych, zmurszałych drzewach liściastych; znajdowany pod odstającą korą, w próchnicy i w butwiejącym drewnie, niekiedy gromadnie w sąsiedztwie mrówek Lasius brunneus (Latr.).
