Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1976:
Gatunek górski, rozsiedlony w środkowej, południowej i południowo-wschodniej Europie, nadto notowany z Wysp Brytyjskich, Kaukazu i Zakaukazia. W Polsce wykazany jedynie z Tatr i ich podgórza. W «Galicji» występował mimo zaprzeczenia Nowickiego (1873), zresztą ten sam autor w tej samej pracy wykazuje go z Tatr pod synomiczną nazwą „Hydroporus Davisii Curt.". Żyje w górskich strumieniach i potokach oraz kałużach o dnie piaszczystym lub kamienistym, rzadko spotykany w jeziorach, w górach sięga strefy alpejskiej.
