Gatunek znany głównie z południowej i środkowej części Europy, wykazywany poza tym z Algierii, Maroka, Kaukazu, Syrii i Syberii. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju. Jako rośliny żywicielskie tego gatunku podawane były: groszek żółty — Lathyrus pratensis L., groszek bulwiasty — L. tuberosus L., groszek wiosenny — L. vernus (L.) Bernh., wyka płotowa — Vicia sepium L., wyka kosmata — V. villosa Roth, wyka ptasia — V. cracca L. i wyka zaroślowa — V. dumetorum L. Larwy żerują w strączkach, przy czym w pojedynczym strączku może być do pięciu larw.
