Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w środkowej i południowo-wschodniej części Europy, w Azji Mniejszej i Syberii Zachodniej. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju. Występuje na nasłonecznionych zboczach i pobrzeżach lasu oraz na murawach kserotermicznych. Chrząszcze pojawiają się w maju i przeżywają do lipca; żerują one na bodziszku czerwonym — Geranium sanguineum L.
