Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Pięknie ubarwiony, o charakterystycznym wykroju skrzydeł motylek, lata w dwu pokoleniach: od VI do VIII i od końca VIII do połowy X. Gąsienice żerują na liściach osik, wierzb, tarnin i topoli, a wg innych źródeł i olchy w V i VI oraz VIII do poł. IX. Drugie pokolenie, łatwe do otrzymania w hodowli, w naturze pojawia się sporadycznie i tylko w sprzyjających warunkach, w okolicach cieplejszych i miejscach nasłonecznionych. Przed przepoczwarczeniem się gąsienice budują oprzędy między liśćmi na ziemi. Gatunek zimuje w stadium jaja.
