Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1997:
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w Europie Środkowej, docierający na zachód do Francji, na północ do południowych obszarów Fennoskandii, a na południe do północnych Włoch. Zamieszkuje pola, pastwiska, łąki, torfowiska, miedze, przydroża, ugory, gruzowiska i zarośla. Żyje na ostrożeniu polnym — Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., ostrożeniu błotnym — C. palustre (L.) Scop., ostrożeniu lancetowatym — C. lanceolatum (L.) Scop. i ostrożeniu warzywnym — C. oleraceum (L.) Scop., ponadto we Francji postacie dojrzałe spotykano na oście kędzierzawym — Carduus crispus L. i oście zwisłym — C. nutans L. Larwy żerują w łodygach i szyi korzeniowej. Imagines łowiono na roślinach od marca do października.
