Taxon description
Zamieszkuje głównie nizinne i pagórkowate obszary w prawie całej Europie, sięgając na północy do południowej części Fennoskandii, notowany nadto z Kaukazu i Syberii. Żyje na suchych glebach piaszczystych, pokrytych rzadką, ale niekiedy wysoką roślinnością. Spotykany często w towarzystwie Harpalus (Pseudoophonus) griseus (Panz.).
