Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w południowej i środkowej Europie oraz południowej części północnej Europy, wykazywany nadto z zachodniej i środkowej Azji. W ubiegłym stuleciu w środkowej Europie częściej spotykany niż obecnie. Występuje głównie na terenach nizinnych i pogórzach, w stawkach, bajorkach, rowach, bagienkach i kałużach, w Karkonoszach znajdowany na torfowisku wysokim, na wysokości 1400 m n.p.m.
