Taxon description
Gatunek zasiedlający południową część Europy, skąd przez Austrię i Węgry przenika do Czechosłowacji i południowej części Polski, ponadto notowany z Azji Mniejszej, Zakaukazia i Syrii. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, znany od niedawna tylko z trzech krain. Występuje od marca do sierpnia w odchodach bydła, koni i owiec, niekiedy znajdowany także w gnijących grzybach i na padlinie.
