Taxon description
Gatunek borealno-górski, zasiedlający środkową i północną część Europa notowany też z Grenlandii i Islandii. W Polsce obejmuje zasięgiem wyższe partie górskie w Sudetach i Tatrach. Według S. Smreczyńskiego (1960) omyłkowo wykazany z Roztocza przez Sz. Tenenbauma (1918, 1923) na podstawie mylnie oznaczonego okazu O. (O.) laevigatus (Fabr.). Spotykany głównie w strefie kosodrzewiny, hal i turni; częsty w pobliżu pól śniegowych, pod kamieniami, wśród mchów i traw. Larwy przypuszczalnie żerują na korzeniach traw.
