Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1981:
Pospolity, szeroko rozmieszczony gatunek holarktyczny. W Europie najczęściej spotykany chrząszcz z omawianego rodzaju, zwłaszcza na obszarach górzystych. W Polsce, chociaż nie notowany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju prócz wyższych partii górskich. Poławiany w żerowiskach korników, zwykle pod korą z fermentującym sokiem na niedawno powalonych drzewach liściastych (dąb, brzoza, buk, topola, osika), niekiedy pod korą sosen i świerków oraz w owocnikach grzyba hubiaka pospolitego — Fomes fomentarius (L.) Fr.
