Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w południowej i zachodniej części środkowej Europy, w zachodniej i południowej Europie oraz w północnej Afryce. W Polsce chrząszcz nadzwyczaj rzadko notowany z kilka stanowisk, przy tym dane z Sudetów pochodzą sprzed przeszło stu laty. Zasiedla obszary nizinne i podgórza, gdzie występuje w środowiskach suchych pod kamieniami, gnijącą roślinnością, wśród mchów oraz na piaszczystych pobrzeżach wód pod napływkami.
