Taxon description
Gatunek obejmujący zasięgiem prawie całą Europę z wyjątkiem najbardziej północnych części wybrzeży śródziemnomorskich, ku wschodowi sięgający poza Ural. Jest to jeden z najczęściej łowionych gatunków omawianego rodzaju. Spotykany od maja do lipca na pobrzeżach lasów i w zaroślach. Jako rośliny żywicielskie piśmiennictwo podaje wierzby, głóg, leszczynę i olszę szarą.
