Gatunek rozsiedlony w południowej, środkowej i wschodniej części Europy, notowany także z Syberii Zachodniej. W Polsce chrząszcz znany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju. Występuje w zaroślach nadrzecznych, olszynach i na pobrzeżach wilgotnych łąk. Spotykany od maja do sierpnia na wierzbach, olchach i jesionach oraz roślinach zielnych i trawach.
