Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w południowej i środkowej Europie oraz w południowej części północnej Europy, notowany również z Kaukazu i z północnej Afryki. W Polsce znajdowany rzadko i sporadycznie, we właściwych biotopach nieraz w dużej liczbie okazów. Spotykany na przegrzybiałych ścianach dziupli drzew, w zmurszałym drewnie i pod korą drzew liściastych (buk, dąb, wiąz), przeważnie w sąsiedztwie mrówek z rodzajów Lasius Fabr. i Camponotus Mayr.
