Prawdopodobnie szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w Europie, lecz do niedawna nieodróżniany od podgatunku nominatywnego.
Podgatunek jednodomny i holocykliczny. Żyje na miodunce — Pulmonaria obscura Dum., powodując skręcanie się liści.
