Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie Północnej oraz w środkowej części Europy, docierający na zachód do górzystych obszarów we Francji. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry. Obserwowany głównie na świerku pospolitym — Picea excelsa (Lam.) Lk., rzadziej na sosnach — Pinus L. i modrzewiach — Larix Mill. Postacie dojrzałe spotykano na drzewach od maja do lipca. Larwy żerują w łyku i bielu, drążąc chodniki do rdzenia.
