Taxon description
Holarktyczny gatunek okołobiegunowy, w faunie Europy wykazywany jako element borealno-alpejski, w Skandynawii występuje dopiero od 64° szer. geogr. aż do najdalszej północy, na południu zaś izolowanymi stanowiskami górskimi sięga do Pirenejów, Jury, Wogezów, Alp, Czarnogóry, Rodopów i Kaukazu. W Polsce jako element borealno-górski, relikt polodowcowy — występuje w Górach Świętokrzyskich (najwyższe wzniesienie 611 m n.p.m. na Łysicy), Sudetach i Karpatach. Żyje na terenach otwartych, zwykle na suchych, nasłonecznionych pochyłościach, pokrytych przeważnie skąpą roślinnością trawiastą. Na północy Europy zasiedla piaszczysto-żwirowe moreny, w południowej części spotykany liczniej ponad górną granicą lasu, w Tatrach do wysokości przynajmniej 2100 m, w Beskidach — 1700 m i w Sudetach 1500 m n.p.m.
