Taxon description
Pospolity, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek w całej Europie, w Fennoskandii docierający do skrajnych prowincji północnych, przy czym w obrębie areału gatunkowego częściej spotykany w górach Europy środkowej, natomiast w południowej części kontynentu rzadziej poławiany. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich, jednak nie jest jeszcze znany z wielu krain. Larwy odbywają rozwój w rozkładającym się drewnie różnych drzew liściastych, notowano ich żerowanie również w drewnie świerka. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju i poławiano je do lipca na kwiatach różnych roślin.
