Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący środkową i całą północną część Europy; wykazywany poza tym z Syberii i Ameryki Północnej. Szeliniak czarny jest znany w Polsce głównie z obszarów wyżynnych i górzystych, z północnej, niżowej części rzadziej notowany. Żyje i odbywa rozwój na świerku pospolitym — Picea excelsa (Lam.) Lk., modrzewiu europejskim — Larix decidua Mill. i sośnie zwyczajnej — Pinus silvestris L. Bionomia podobna jak u H. abietis (L.
