Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w północnej, środkowej i wschodniej Europie oraz północnej części południowej Europy, sięgając na wschód przez Syberie aż po Kamczatkę i Kraj Przymorski. W Polsce znany z całego obszaru nizinnego, w córach rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany, w Sudetach łowiony do wysokości 1150 m n.p.m. Występuje w różnego typu zbiornikach wodnych zwłaszcza o podłożu torfiastym.
