Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1980:

Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w środkowej Europie, na zachód docierający do północno-wschodniej Francji, a na północ do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych prowincji Fennoskandii. W Polsce znany z nielicznych, rozproszonych stanowisk. Żyje w wilgotnym murszu starych, dziuplastych drzew liściastych, zwłaszcza zawierających gniazda ptaków, mrówek czy szerszeni. Znajdowany również na takich drzewach bądź pod odstającą korą, bądź wśród mchu i przy wyciekającym soku z pni. Larwy odżywiają się owadami bezskrzydłymi i roztoczami (Roubal 1930).
