Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w prawie całej Europie (z wyjątkiem północnej części Fennoskandii) i północnej Afryce, wykazywany też z Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i Indii. W Polsce stosunkowo rzadko i sporadycznie znajdowany. Zamieszkuje świetliste lasy i pojedynczo stojące drzewa w parkach, przy drogach i alejach. Poławiany przeważnie pod odstającą, zmurszałą i przegrzybiałą korą, w hubach, murszu dziuplastych drzew, gniazdach ptaków i przy wyciekającym soku z pni.
