Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący środkową Europę oraz otaczające ją kraje, nadto notowany z Anglii i południowych prowincji Fennoskandii. W Polsce spotykany rzadko i sporadycznie zarówno na terenach nizinnych, jak i w górach. Występuje na niżu i terenach górskich, docierając do strefy subalpejskiej. Zasiedla zmurszałe pnie i pieńki, zwłaszcza drzew iglastych. Często znajdowany w sąsiedztwie gniazd Lasius brunneus (Latr.).
