Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1980:

Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową Europę, na południe sięgający do Włoch, a na północ do Anglii i południowej części Skandynawii. W Polsce dopiero niedawno odkryty na jednym tylko stanowisku. Występuje przeważnie w gniazdach podziemnych, zwłaszcza os i trzmieli, rzadziej myszy i kretów. Znajdowany niekiedy w dziuplach drzew zasiedlonych przez gnieżdżące się ptaki, poza tym w hubach i gnijącym drewnie, rzadko w gniazdach mrówek pod kamieniami.
