Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1985:

Gatunek występujący w Europie od północnej Hiszpanii, Szwajcarii, południowego Tyrolu, Krainy i Hercegowiny w Jugosławii oraz Siedmiogrodu przez środkową część kontynentu aż do Karelii, północnej Fennoskandii i Wysp Brytyjskich; wykazywany ponadto z Turcji i Iranu. W Polsce spotykany jest dość rzadko, przy czym nie jest znany z wielu krain, a w niektórych od przeszło stu lat nie poławiany. Larwy odbywają rozwój w zmurszałych pieńkach, gdzie zimują. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych rozpoczyna się w maju i trwa do lipca-sierpnia. Chrząszcze są łowione na pobrzeżu lasów i przylegających do lasu łąkach na krzewach, trawach i roślinach zielnych. Samce są bardzo rzadko spotykane, częściej natomiast samice, przeważnie na rozkładających się pieńkach.
